The List : SPRING ’18

Spring Forward!

If you happen to find yourself roaming the streets of Antwerp this month, make sure to step into MoMu to see the Olivier Theyskens She Walks in Beauty exhibition in person. The rest of us will have to settle for this gorgeous book of photographs and original drawings. After designing for Rochas and Nina Ricci, Theyskens, the edgy Belgian dark prince of fashion, now has his own line of punk-inspired designs.

Over the last few years it seems as though everyone has been scrambling to get into art-meets-tech exhibitions like Yayoi Kusama’s Infinity Rooms at The Broad Museum and LACMA’s virtual reality and Rain Room installations. It was only logical for a showcase of the intersection of art, design and innovation to come along. Enter If So, What?, a brand new art fair doing all of the above. Debuting in San Francisco at the iconic Palace of Fine Arts, will be immersive experiences, VR, and speakers on everything from Facebook’s artist-in-residence program to art and cryptocurrency. We plan to be S.F. bound to check out the inaugural edition of this promising new art fair.

We love a light touch in our fragrances and tend to avoid department store scent sprayers at all costs. So, it was no surprise that we were hooked on the light and airy original Gucci Bloom from our very first whiff. Now, fresh for Spring, is Gucci’s new scent Aqua di Fiori. We have high hopes that it too will subtly scent the season, rather than have us gasping for air!

While Louis Vuitton leather goods have always been on our list of classics, the fresh look of their Series 2 exhibition in West Hollywood a few years back put their fashion designs on our radar as well (see our post.) It’s no secret that we’re fans of a good sparkle, so we simply cannot resist these two beauties from their latest Series 8 collection.

When we got the tip that New York’s NoMad was restoring Downtown L.A.’s Bank of Italy building into a hotel and six dining spots, we jumped at the chance to test out their signature cocktails (our favorite is served in a silver rooster) and savor their Michelin star award-winning food right here in our own city. We spent the winter indoors at their Lobby and Mezzanine dining spots. With warmer days on the horizon, chances are high that we will be hanging poolside and at the NoMad Rooftop Bar.
