The List : SPRING ’17

A Spring in Our Step…

We first laid eyes on a pair of Aquazzura shoes several years back at Bergdorf’s, on a trip to NYC for Fashion Week. They were black suede numbers with pink snake-skin heels, aptly called Sexy Thing. How could we resist? They simply had to be ours. We’ve been hooked on all things Aquazzura ever since, and this Spring’s collection definitely doesn’t disappoint. In fact, we fully intend to step out in these Paradise Pink Flora sandals just as soon as the weather sees fit to warm up.

When we need to get down to business, but still want to keep it fun, we head to Tavern, aka Sparkle Bungalow HQ. We can count on Corey (host-extraordinaire) to have our go-to spot, Table 34, ready and waiting upon our arrival. It is of no surprise that some of our best blog posts were dreamt up while enjoying a leisurely lunch on their comfy green velvet couches. Yes, we have been known to linger over a delicious burger or a pot of fresh mint tea, but our favorite waiter Geronimo never makes us feel like we’ve overstayed our welcome. So, if you happen to be by at lunchtime, you may just find us working away amongst the hip, business crowd. Can’t make it for lunch? Luckily, there’s a nightly Happy Hour from 4:00-7:00 with a great selection of small bites, drinks and of course, a cool cast of characters to match.

It’s not every day that we fall in love with a set of postage stamps, but in the case of these Oscar de la Renta beauties, we did just that. Now we look for any excuse to put pen to paper, just so we can stick one of this iconic American fashion designer’s masterpieces on the envelope. At $5.39 for a sheet of 11 of these Oscar de la Renta forever stamps, you too can treat your snail mail to some haute-couture.

Even in the dead of winter, Apothia’s “IF” line of candles, diffusers, lotions and scented oils makes us feel like it’s Spring. In fact, we stash this travel-size bottle of roll-on Pure Oil in our purse just so that we always have easy access to our favorite season.

Balenciaga: Shaping Fashion exhibition at the V&A, London

A very fashionable Spring awaits, with several shows opening on both sides of the pond. Irving Penn: Centennial, a retrospective of this renowned American photographer’s work opens at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on April 24. Just a few weeks later on May 4,  Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons: Art of the In-Between also opens at The Met. Japanese fashion innovator Kawakubo will co-chair the uber-fashionable Met Ball on May 1. Then, Balenciaga: Shaping Fashion, will round out the trio of fashion-themed exhibitions, opening on May 27 at the V&A in London. The show features more than 100 works from this legendary Spanish house of fashion. We’re booking our flights now….
